The Phyllis Sheehan Scholarship Fund The Need Funding for education is needed, as well. 75% of Haitians live on $2 per day or less, while half the population lives on only $1 per day. Haitian parents often have to literally choose between food and schooling. Without privately funded schools like Annunciation School Leogane, only 10% of the current 15,000 schools would exist. The Solution Founded in 2007, The Phyllis Sheehan Scholarship Fund grants aid to students of Annunciation School Leogane in need of a helping hand for educational expenses including full tuition, uniform, shoes, books, and school supplies on an on-going basis for each child sponsored. Through this program, the Haitian Sisters of the Company of Jesus are able to expand the number of students served at our school, addressing both the need of greater access to and funding for education. Future goals include supporting students through secondary school and college.
